Komodo Diving FAQ

Answers to the questions divers ask us most before diving Komodo National Park from Labuan Bajo. Can’t find yours? Message us on WhatsApp.

Planning your trip

When is the best time to dive Komodo?

We dive all year. April to December is the dry season, with calmer seas and 20–30 m visibility. January to March is the wet season: fewer boats, cooler water (around 23–26°C) and excellent macro diving. See our need-to-know guide and month-by-month guide.

How do I get to Labuan Bajo?

Fly into Komodo Airport (LBJ). There are daily flights from Bali (about 1 hour 15 minutes) and Jakarta (about 2 hours). Our dive centre is on Jl. Soekarno Hatta in Labuan Bajo.

How do I book a trip or a course?

Message us on WhatsApp (+62 811 3980 0086) — it is the fastest way to reach us. You can also email info@amaredivers.com or use the contact form. We are open every day from 9:00 to 20:00.

Do you offer liveaboard trips?

Yes. Our liveaboard, the Maria Seascape, runs multi-day trips through Komodo National Park. If you prefer to sleep on land, our dive & stay packages combine daily diving with a room next door.

Daily dive trips

What is included in a daily dive trip?

The boat from Labuan Bajo into Komodo National Park, a full set of dive equipment (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, tanks and weights), a dive guide, a hot lunch on board, snacks, fruit, tea, coffee and drinking water, photos from the day and government tax. Full details are on the daily trips page.

What is not included?

The Komodo National Park and harbour fee (IDR 300,000 per person per day), plus optional extras such as dive computer rental (IDR 100,000 per day), GoPro rental (IDR 300,000 per day) and Nitrox fills (IDR 75,000 per tank).

How big are the groups?

We keep groups small, with a maximum of 4 divers per guide, matched to your experience level.

How much does diving in Komodo cost?

Prices depend on the number of dives and days. All current rates for fun dives, courses and packages are on our pricing page.

Courses and experience

Can I dive if I have never dived before?

Yes. Our Try Scuba day needs no licence or experience: one day, two or three dives with an instructor. If you love it, you can continue to the SSI Open Water Diver course.

Which certification do you teach?

We are an SSI dive centre. We teach Try Scuba, Open Water Diver, Advanced Adventurer, React Right, Stress & Rescue, Nitrox and the Divemaster programme. SSI certifications are recognised by dive centres worldwide.

Are the currents in Komodo difficult?

Komodo is known for currents, which is also why the marine life is so rich. Our guides plan every dive around the tides and choose sites that match the group’s experience. Read more in our guide to Komodo currents.

Do you offer Nitrox?

Yes. Nitrox fills are available for certified Nitrox divers, and you can take the Nitrox course with us in one day.
